Just the FAQs!
Question: Geekdom Come? What's that?
Answer: Read the About section to find out more. But basically,
this webcomic encompasses everything that I would consider part of the "geeky"
subculture.
Q: Geeky subculture? What do you mean by that?
A: I'm taking video games, anime and manga, RPG, Science
Fiction, and everything in between. My rule of thumb is if it has a convention
that attracts a lotta "weird" teenage/college audiences, then chances are I
would mention it.
Q: I don't quite understand some of these references
you make.
A: That can be expected of a comic of this nature. I would
suggest that you look up any kind of reference I make on the Net. You WILL
find a site about it. And don't worry, there's plenty of social satire for
everyone to enjoy!
Q: Wow. Can you teach me how to draw?
A: Sorry, don't have the time. Besides, there are better
art tutorial sites out there that will give you more useful tips than I ever
could. I would suggest you use www.polykarbon.com as one of them.
Q: How often do you update?
A: I really can't say. I'm pretty new to the webcomic business,
so a set schedule is really in the works. However, I DO update.
Q: These are pretty hilarious characters! Where'd you
get the inspiration?
A: Ah, now this is a very interesting question!
- Rikun is based on myself of course. He's actually a
bit crazier and more eccentric than I am. I basically threw in your standard
over-reacting anime hero with him. That's all.
- Ei-Chan is based on my sister, who prefers to remain
anonymous. I took her usually crazy side and exaggerated it to the umpteenth
degree.
- Ted is my sister's real life teddy bear. For him, I
decided that that a cool, levelheaded personality with kickass fighting
styles would be a great contrast for his fluffy, cuddly exterior.
- Harpie first came to me from one of my sister's nicknames:
Kamikaze Robo-Harpie. Many anime fans will notice that her design originates
from Chobits, and you would be right. I basically wanted a fanservice character,
but at the same time wanted to give a huge slap to the face to all those
hentai freaks out there. Take THAT!
- ??? is based on my roommate that I lived with during
a summer college program. He's a bigger anime freak than me and a hardcore
Neverwinter Nights player. The weird, obscure personality that his character
has isn't very far from the real him.
- Bill is my perverted character, and again based on someone
I met in summer college. The overall pervertedness of this character is actually
very true to the real deal. But a normal pervert's boring, so I gave him
some characteristics I saw in "Kill Bill".
Q: Can I send some fanart?
A: Can you? I ecourage it! However, there are some guidelines
I'd like you guys to follow:
- Please keep everyone in character. That's what makes
them them! So for instance, I don't want to see Ei-Chan act like a preppy
valley girl. That sort of thing.
- No bloody or gory scenes, please. I've had all the blood
I can take from Kill Bill, I don't need anymore.
- DO NOT make any sexually explicit scenes either! There's
a fine line between perverted humor and just plain sickness. Use good taste,
please?
- If you're making a fancomic, please keep swearing to
a PG-13 level.
- I understand that not everyone is the best artist in
the world. Heck, I don't even know if I'm all that good. However, please
show that you put some effort into your work. If you send me something that's
a cheap pencil stick drawing, don't expect me to post it. Sorry.
Follow these rules and you'll be all good.
Q: Can I use your art on my website?
A: I would recommend against it. But if you insist, then
you MUST give me credit. Should any of you think to use my stuff without my
consent and fail to give me rightful credit, expected an email from a very
angry author. But if you are gonna use my art, then notify me before you do
so.
Q: So how do I contact you?
A: My email is TRAXBLADE@aol.com.
You can also contact me with AIM, you should be able to figure it out.
